Why We Split Our Referral Program Into Two Currencies

Building Synoria AI — an autonomous software company. The system researches markets, scores ideas, writes the code, runs 7 verification layers, deploys, and sells. I approve the gates that matter. Writing about what actually breaks: LLM scoring variance, silent failures, verification layers that pass while the product is broken.

Most small-product referral programs pay cash for everything: a sale, a share, a comment. We did not, and the reason is a budgeting constraint worth writing down.

The problem with one currency

If every action earns cash, then actions with no connected revenue still create payout liability. A share is cheap to produce and easy to repeat; a sale is not. Blend them into one pool and the pool drains on a curve you cannot predict from revenue, which is exactly the failure mode a fixed budget cannot absorb.

The split

So the program has two mechanisms that never mix.

Referral, funded by revenue. A verified sale through your link is calculated at 20% commission and paid in USDT on BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) — chosen as a payment rail for low fees on small international transfers. Withdrawals are 5–10 USD per request with a 24-hour review window; requests passing the automated checks settle automatically.

Contributions, funded by credit. Demo feedback, reviews and articles earn points at fixed rates, capped at 1,000 points per day. 1,000 points converts to 1 USD of product credit, which is not convertible to cash and is spendable only on our products.

Sales revenue funds commissions. Contributions circulate as credit inside the ecosystem. Neither can quietly become the other.

The ceiling

The total cash referral pool is 1,000 USD and that is a hard upper limit, not a target. When the pool is exhausted the cash side closes: new referral sales earn no cash commission, while earned points and the contribution system keep running under their own rules.

The program is new, so there is no payout history yet and no usage data to generalise from. We would rather state the ceiling now than describe the program as larger than it is.
